A fertiliser is a material of natural or synthetic origin, applied to soil or plants. They supply nutrients essential to the growth of plants. Many sources of fertiliser exist, both natural and industrially produced.

Fertiliser for lawns

In a lawn care environment, the majority of fertilisers are granular. They consist of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium is varying amounts. Nitrogen is to promote healthy tissue growth and leaves. Phosphorus helps the roots and Potassium helps the immune system.

Applying fertilisers to a lawn is an essential part of lawn maintenance. In a lawn, the nitrogen cycle becomes interrupted due to the removal of clippings by mowing. Lawns are also not grazed by animals, so natural organic matter tends not get recycled into the soil.

Fertilising a lawn can bring amazing results to the look of any lawn. Giving the grass a wonderful dark green colour and healthy growth.
