A perennial weed is a plant which lasts for more than two years. In a lawn care, many perennial weeds can become a problem as they can spread all year round, quickly taking over and area of lawn and out growing grass.

Perennials are usually more difficult to control in lawns as they persist in the grass year after year. They often creep under the soil and put down deep root systems. Hand weeding these weeds can be difficult and so chemical methods are usually the best course of action for control.
